  Ceremonies

Great Fosters is licensed to hold civil ceremonies, in addition to wedding receptions. If you decide to hold your ceremony with us, we do ask that you also hold the wedding reception at Great Fosters too.

Your ceremony will be held in the Orangery, which has tall arched windows in the style of the eighteenth century and elegant views over the South Terrace and gardens. The Orangery accommodates up to 160 guests for a civil ceremony, with an additional 40 guests in the adjacent Conservatory, if required.

Your ceremony will be followed by drinks in the adjacent Painted Hall, which has its own private bar. During fine weather, we suggest drinks are served on the Terrace outside. The wedding breakfast will be served in the Tithe Barn. Dating from 1390, The Tithe Barn was painstakingly dismantled from its original site within Surrey and re-built at Great Fosters in the 1930s. It provides an unusual and dramatic setting for a wedding reception with exposed vaulted English oak beams and a Minstrel’s Gallery.

For receptions extending into the evening, we suggest that coffee is served in the Painted Hall after the wedding breakfast and speeches. The Tithe Barn will then be re-arranged to allow dancing to continue until midnight.

When reserving the Orangery and the Tithe Barn for a wedding ceremony and reception, we include the Queen Anne Suite for the Bride and Groom on their wedding night, on a complimentary basis.

When reserving Great Fosters for your wedding ceremony, the registrars insist that arrangements for the ceremony are made direct with them. The registrar’s fee is also payable directly to them. The register office for Great Fosters is the North Surrey Register Office in Weybridge. They may be contacted on 01932 794700. Please note that the register office only permits you to make a confirmed reservation up to one year in advance.
