Thursday, 2nd October (15th October date is full)
Join us for a simple foraging walk with the aim of identifying a selection of spring shoots, edible plants and flowers and hopefully some lovely St George’s mushrooms. Marlow and Eric from Wild Food UK will be leading the walk. We are sure you will find their genuine love of the outdoors and wild British food to be infectious. There is an abundance of edible plants and mushrooms growing in the UK much of which would be considered ingredients for fine dining.……come along and discover what the extensive grounds of Great Fosters have to offer.
This introduction to foraging will include foraging dos and don’ts, the Countryside Act and the laws of foraging, plus information on mushrooms of the season, medicinal plants and how to store, prepare and cook your foraged finds. A pre-lunch glass of Champagne will be served after the walk followed by lunch in the Garden Room where the menu will hopefully include some foraged ingredients from the estate.
