Art at Great Fosters
As proud custodians of this exceptional building, we have collected some fine pieces of furniture and antiques over the years. However, we wanted our artwork to help us keep pace with the 21st Century and were keen to establish an eclectic mix of new works in a traditional setting.
The concept of having art not just as wallpaper but to spark interest and conversation among our guests was the inspiration behind our thinking. From the painting of established Royal Academy artist, Philip Sutton, to the striking outdoor sculptures of Rick Kirby, we strive to provide a diversity of styles and mediums with the belief that each generation has a duty to challenge our view of art. As such, we choose to present works from practicing artists who represent some of today’s contemporary styles.
Great Fosters has a growing, permanent collection of diverse pieces and we have selected a few of our favourites to include in our new book Art at Great Fosters, together with some of the temporary exhibits from our partnerships with both Life – The Gallery and Marcelle Joseph Projects.
Life – The Gallery brings changing exhibitions from both British and international emerging artists to The Estate Grill whilst Marcelle Joseph has been responsible for curating our three Al Fresco sculpture shows in the magnificent setting of our listed gardens.
